I always enjoy going to this little town with my friends because I think the people, especially the sweet church ladies, are so friendly and nice.

I think little Miss J had the best time out of all us! She had a smile on her face the entire day -even when it was freezing and miserable. She loved being able to use an umbrella and be bopped around enjoying every moment. She never complained of being cold but since all of us adults were shivering and looking for shelter and warmth we thought it be best to find the girlie some pants or leggings...
One of the first stops we make after getting the car parked and registered is "the" church to purchase an apple pie! I feel bad because I should know the name of the church but I don't.
I do, however, want to give my thanks to the sweet ladies running this pie sale.
Why?
Because they're sweet
Because they're helpful
Because they have heart
*And*
Because they have this:
I asked where I could possibly find pants to buy for a little girl (since the local Piggly Wiggly had no such item) and voila! Behind the partition they had the beginnings of a thrift store!
What a blessing I tell you! Ask and you shall receive!
Miss J got some fun and WARM PJ pants that coordinated nicely with her fashion ensemble. My friend Tammy got a cute Applefest sweatshirt and Vickie got some socks to keep her hands warm! We seriously didn't think it was going to be so cold.
I got a whole tray full of pretty glass creamers, coffee cups, etc. Only $3 but I gave em $5. I wasn't planning on getting anything but they were right there at eye level.
Here's what caught my eye

I thought these transferware coffee cups were pretty. They are made in England. I didn't get a super good look at them until I got home. I only can use about 5 of them since the rest are crackled and chipped.
They didn't have any saucers to go with them, either. The creamer was also chipped on the bottom.
Oh well. I still like them. Maybe I should give a go on making a mosaic next summer.
I also got a cute Fenton sugar container. I'll post that sometime soon
Here are a few more pics to share from our day...
Lots of raindrops to wipe off!
Sweet little calf. Lonnng eyelashes
Miss J enjoying the petting zoo!
I know I know there aren't any pictures of apples. At All. People have pointed this out to me.
But the funny thing is that Applefest doesn't happen at an apple orchard. There's no hayrack rides or apple picking. It's more like a little carnival complete with an auto show, craft fair, food stands, flea markets, and some apple-oriented things. I did get my carmel apple this time! Yum! I also had to try an apple fritter and warm apple cider.
What our trip was about was honoring my friend Don. The car took 2nd place and we all enjoyed our time together and remembering a wonderful man. Another memory and another trophy to put on his wall of many. He is truly missed. Hug your daddies and hubbies and tell em you love em, will ya?
Have a great week!
