Chalkboard Charm

I don't know what it is about a chalkboard that emits warm fuzzies in me. I always liked how it felt to write with chalk on the boards.   I reallllly should have been a teacher.   Between my love of kiddos and teaching others I don't know why I never walked down that path in college.

Now this is not feasible for my home but I still love it

I like how large this chalkboard is and how charming and welcoming it is in this kitchen

The one below is hanging on the right of the room.  It's small and discreet but I like it!  I think it's the scallops on top.  Feminine and sweet.

As you can tell I have a variety of different chalkboards that appeal to me!   I have a very special Christmas memory that involves a chalkboard.  Maybe that's why I like them so much?
One Christmas morning I woke up to see what Santa left us.  The very first thing I remember was seeing a big green easel style chalkboard, which made me smile.   I've always loved art.  I was only 6 1/2 and my mom was expecting.
I went into their bedroom to find them gone and a baby-sitter in their bed.
Well, a chalkboard wasn't the only thing I received that Christmas so long ago...   I also got a sweet baby brother, too!  My life changed forever!!

  1. That is sooo sweet! Not everyone gets a baby brother for a Christmas gift. I love chalkboards as well. Right now mine says... "I am thankful for..." I want to have my family think about what they are thankful for,and write on the blackboard if they choose to. Have a Happy Thanksgiving Angela. Hugs,G.

  2. I am the same way! The neighbhor girl and I ran a "school" (play school) in her basement when we were kids, and they had a big green chalkboard on legs, I was obsessed...too funny because I am a teacher now! ;-) I have been working on chalkboards for the shop and made one for my kitchen, I have two more to make for my apartment, too!

  3. Hi, I have a similar story: Long long ago, I recieved a big black board that my Uncle made for me..I still have it, can you believe that? A little worn but still good, now belongs to my grandson.
And, you won't believe this..I got a brother when I was three on Christmas Eve. Today as I speak he is in the hospital having his heart shocked back to its normal beats. It's going way to fast, they must slow it down. We are all hoping for the best...what a gift for Christmas. Please come visit me and, I'll be back to see you time and time again. xoso Sandy
