Waiting for Spring
I don't know about you but I am SO ready for Springtime! I find myself missing the green surroundings, happy birds singing, sun shining, warmer temps and daylight savings time! I dread coming home in the dark after a long days work.
I'm trying to keep a positive attitude and remember that this is the time to be doing all the things I love to do inside and alone. Problem is - I love to be out and about and with people! Hmmm!
I'm very much looking forward to spending time with some girlfriends next month! We're going to have a creative night and make cards. I have lots of supplies to contribute to all. You don't even want to see my craft room.
I don't think I'll be on the cover of "Where Women Create" {http://www.wherewomencreate.com/} anytime soon. But it's good to know some of the women inside that mag have admitted to completely renovating and organizing their spaces for the magazine spread. Nothing like a little motivation to Spring clean!

Haiti On My Heart
Every day my thoughts & prayers have been lifted up to heaven for the people of Haiti. My heart is full of hope for the salvation and safety of many that still are waiting to be healed, helped and rescued.
I am especially moved by the stories of so many orphans that are quickly being released to their adoptive families in the U.S. There was made a way when there seemed no way... that can only be God!
I have a few friends that have taken missionary trips to Haiti to assist with our church missionaries, the Carls. I'm glad to say that the Carls are safe and assisting injured Haitians by transporting them to the area hospitals. They are also staying on to do volunteer work while at the hospital. Right now a mission team from my church is being assembled and will be flying out to Haiti. They have asked for everyone's prayers.
During a quiet moment last weekend I asked myself "What would you do if everything around you literally crumbled to pieces?" Who would you turn to?"
I know I would be devastated but I would turn to God in a prayer for help, safety for me and loved ones, provision and peace. What would you do?
"I lift up my eyes to the hills - where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth." Psalm 121:1-2

"In the end love has the final word!" (Return to Cranford) Matty
Hopeless romantic. That's me! Earlier in the day I went to go see the film "Leap Year" because I very much admire the acting skills of Amy Adams, not to mention there was a love story involved. It wasn't a bad film but it's story line has all been done before. It was light & easy to watch along with your best "chick" if you know what I mean... Although I did see some brave men with their gals, too.
Tonight I was looking forward to finishing up the Masterpiece Classic series on PBS called "Return to Cranford". I have never seen the previous runs of the show and was going to catch the final installment. Two major things that can pull me in: A) Period film B) Judi Dench. Say no more!
Women of that time period amaze me. They actually were expected to be dramatic. To swoon, to burst out in tears and to faint over anything and everything. In today's society you are weak when you show any kind of emotion. Nowadays people barely want to speak to eachother on the phone or in person. "Text me".
I also like to hear all the proper English language they use. Such formalities... The carefully sealed letters, calling on eachother personally, social statuses, and the tiniest of gestures with unsaid words. What a big deal it was to touch a woman's uncovered hand. To keep a lock of hair or her embroidered hanky as a token of love.
We sure have some a long long way, haven't we?
I also kept flipping channels so I can catch some of the Golden Globes, too. I am a modern woman, after all! So happy to see such great women winning the awards tonight. Drew Barrymore, Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep, & Monique. I missed most of it and will have to check out the list of winners tomorrow. Until next time my friends I bid you a fond farewell!

Wow! I did it!
Hello! Wow! I finally did it. I created my very own blog for the first time ever. It's been a long time coming and after prompting from some of my friends I have taken this new step forward.
I can now mark off one of my goals for 2010. Yeah!
I named my blog "Down to the Darling Details" because I used that phrase very recently and decided it pretty much summed up who I am. Now, I'm not saying I'm ultra detailed all the time but I certainly can appreciate those that are. I had a lot of other names in mind but I think I'll stick with this one.
For example, I really dig how a mixed media artist can take something that someone cast off as junk and put glitter, rhinestones, and glue on it and voila! Art! Beauty! Fabu! They take their art all the way down to the "darling" details.
You know what I mean?
I'm excited to start this new venture. I am not sure what I'll begin blogging about and how often but I do know that I enjoy connecting with people and writing.
I am sure I'll blog about photography, arts, crafts, travel, food, faith, fashion, friends and fun! Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!
